The Ultimate: Called “Friend”

When you want to please the Lord, when you know not how else to fight the enemy, when you feel discouraged, sad, hopeless, fearful… quote these verses back to the Lord:

Isa. 25:1 ~~ “O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You and praise Your name, for in perfect faithfulness You have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.”

Ex. 15:11 ~~ “Who among the gods is like You, O LORD? Who is like You –majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?”

Ps. 96:5,6 ~~ “For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary.”

Ps. 76:4 ~~ “You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game.”

1 Tim. 6:15,16 ~~ “God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen.”

Yes, above all gods, idols, and rulers –human and spiritual– He reigns.

And this great Ruler of rulers invites each one of us to dine with Him, live with Him… He in us, and we in Him… to be called His temple, His family… and to one day inherit all He owns… and to right now have Him as our Protector, Provider, Shepherd, Comforter, Counselor, Helper, and Deliverer. And even… to have Him call us “Friend”. (John 15:15 & James 2:23)

That is the ultimate. And it is the term He calls all those who walk closely with Him… close in obedience, love, and reverence…

May we therefore please Him –with our grateful praise.
