Are You His Abode?

Well, after church today, my husband and I finally got out to the malls and did some Christmas shopping –actually, mostly window-shopping. We go every year to perch ourselves up on the fourth floor and eat, while looking down at the families ice skating –and falling– as they go round and round a huge Christmas tree.

It’s fun to do once in a while, but it sure does make me sad too concerning how materialistic Americans are. I mean, the prices! A purse was over eighteen hundred dollars! Why??!! (I often don’t even carry a purse. Like who would want to spend that –on a purse?!) Anyway… with all the people going without in the world, it just seems so… just pathetic…

The sermon this morning in church was on John 1:1,14-16 –about how Jesus, the Word made human, came to earth to “tabernacle with us.” I liked how he used that version and emphasized this –“tenting with us.” Yes, for I have often thought of how wondrous it is that Jesus, “the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father” (Isa. 9:6) would stoop to make His abode within each one of us who have “opened the door of our spirit to Him.” (See Rev. 3:20) It is an awesome privilege… truly amazing… and I do wonder why anyone would reject such a glorious invitation, such a priceless gift…

Well, may we all exalt and thank our precious Shepherd, our wonderful Counselor, the Most High God. And may we bow at His majestic throne, His beautiful feet… Yes, may we “Exalt the LORD our God and worship at His footstool; [for] He is holy.” (Ps. 99:5) Yes, holy indeed. — And worthy of utmost honor, praise, love, and obedience.

So may we all be blameless… as we house such a holy, wondrous Being inside our spirits.

with love,
