She Loves Pleasure

Friends,
As you know, I consider the American church (in general) to be very weak, even sickly. Why do I believe she’s like this? Because she loves the world. And now she also loves counterfeits. Why does she love both of these? Because she loves sin. What sin in particular? The sin of pleasure. –Whatever kind of pleasure. And though the world’s ways are now accepted in the church with mottos like, “We’re being culturally relevant so as to win the world for Christ”, the counterfeit “holy spirit” is actually the one increasing in popularity. Why’s that? Because that “pleasure” is the one bringing a newer dazzle to the scene –and a greater ecstasy– because it’s so spiritual. Definitely, the world’s glamour and highs are so “yesterday” comparatively, and besides, the counterfeit spirit is bringing to the “spiritually bored” some spectacular signs and wonders… even letting its participants taste some power.

So the immature, the young, the bored, the self-focused, rush around looking for their “fix” –their spiritual high– and in so doing they acquire the taste for falsehoods, and thus “refusing to love the Truth” (2 Thes. 2:10), they just become ever more deceived. In fact, they again become “infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.” (Eph. 4:14) Then they stumble spiritually –they no longer can find the truth. And “they stumble because they disobey the Word –which is what they were destined to do.” (1 Peter 2:8) There it is. Disobedience is the cause of the stumbling, weak, sick church. Disobedience to God’s Word.

Well, a few weeks ago, I found a weblog that I really like, agree with, and respect, and it has a recent post there about being “destined to stumble”. So I will encourage you to go to that address and read more. Here’s the address: http://israeliteindeed.wordpress.com

There are actually many excellent articles there.

Sincerely,
Rachel
