Living By The Light

Friends,
At this time of year (especially) we should be thanking the Lord for coming to our dark planet and bringing us His great Light –Jesus, who is the Light of the world. (John 8:12) As Matt. 4:16 says (quoting Isa. 9:2) “The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” And Isa. 60:1-3 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come… See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you…”

As we allow the Lord to rise upon us, in us, abide in us, teach us, then the darkness — the sin and deceptions evaporate. Jesus tells us in John 12:46, “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness.”

He also says in John 3:19-21, “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

Notice that it is AFTER people live “by the truth” that they come into the light. (Living by the truth one has, brings them to more light. And then more, and then more… as they are obedient to what they continue to receive.) It’s then that Jer. 33:3 applies, “Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” –Those things that are only “spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14) by those who have the Holy Spirit’s teachings and counsel –that instruction which comes through “the anointing you received from Him” (1 John 2:27) and the study of His Word. (Ps. 119:99-102)

1 John 1:5 says, “God is light; in Him there is NO darkness at all.” I believe “darkness” throughout most of Scripture means sin, spiritual blindness, lostness, and eternal death –all that comes from the kingdom of Satan. That’s why verse 6 says, “If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.” There’s that “live by the truth” again. And we can only live by the truth if we LOVE the truth. Truly love it / Him. More than our reputations, more than our friends, more than our families, more than our possessions, more than our lives…

Yes, our lives are a vapor, a shadow… However, with the Lord is everlasting light. Light dispels darkness. So there’s no gloom even in death, for we go immediately to be in the presence of the Lord. And really, His presence is with us now too (Ex. 33:14), though then we shall SEE Him.

The sad thing is, is that what about those who live with a counterfeit light? Jesus warned of this in Luke 11:35. “See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.” These careless ones deceive themselves because “they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” (2 Thes. 2:10) For as verse 11 says, “All will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” The people in this context are those who were awed by “miracles”, so they were those who “believed”, but believed deceptive counterfeits. They were those whose refusal of truth brought them an even stronger belief in deceptions… Indeed, the TRUTH is what has to be believed; not just belief in any gospel.

I believe God has been warning the harlot church for a good while now, and she hasn’t much time, if any, left to repent. I wish people would listen. But really… sadly… I don’t think the majority of “Christians” even know right from wrong anymore; or truth from falsehood anymore… They can’t hear anymore…

I was wondering if the Lord wanted me to add verse 16 to my post yesterday (Dec. 1) where I wrote at the end about being thrust from His presence. He says there in Jer. 7:16,17, “So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with Me, for I will not listen to you. Do you not see what they are doing…?” Certainly, this hopeless state of many is something to weep about! That for many in the church it IS too late! Their delusion has been creeping over them too long, and they will perish because even though they kept pointing out the world’s sins, they themselves did not repent of their own pet sins. (Luke 13:3) They will be cut to pieces, assigned “a place with the unbelievers.” (Luke 12:46) In other words, belief is not enough. One must repent and obey, follow and abide… with a completely undivided heart.

May the fear of God be in us all… May we not “flatter ourselves too much to detect or hate our sin.” (See Ps. 36:1,2)

Love,
Rachel
